- Waterfall monologues

- When dry
-
-
- Help! Please help me! Please stay and listen to what I have to say.
-
- I am so dry! My throat is parched. My innards are dehydrated. My bed has been exsiccated.
-
- One moment the cool, clear waters were cascading over my body, and the next there was nothing more than a teasing trickle.
-
- It is not so much myself that I care about as the water sprites that used to dwell here.
-
- They were my neighbours, my friends, my companions and my playmates.
-
- A blue-tailed diver told me that the stream had been captured by a hole! Can such a thing be true?
-
- If only you could help me, I would be your true friend for ever.
-
- Now I must dry up. Talking is such an effort when your throat is as desiccated as mine is.
-
- Have you found my stream yet? I fear I will crumble if I am deprived of moisture for much longer.
-
-
- When wet
-
-
- It’s you again! I hoped you would return so that I could thank you.
-
- It’s not only you who have returned, but my water sprites as well! See how happy they are now that the waters are restored.
-
- I promised that I would be your true friend for ever. And so I will.
-
- As a token of my friendship and gratitude, I have a small gift for you.
-
- I will give you a fairy-mist flower. If ever you find yourself in a situation where you don’t want to be seen, just crush the flower in your hand.
-
- The flower releases a fine reflective mist which coats you from head to toe and acts as a mirror. It is almost as if you have vanished.
-
- Handle it with great care, and use it only when it is absolutely necessary.
-
- This is bliss! A constant cascade of fresh water! What more could anyone want?
